The Tiger Who Came To Tea
The Tiger Who Came To Tea
Hall For Cornwall
It seems almost unbelievable that Judith Kerr's bestselling book was first published in 1968
and remains a favourite story for little 'uns. David Wood knows that children are harsh critics
if a stage production is not up to their expectations, but this latest adaptation of a classic tale
ticks all the right boxes. The Tiger Who Came To Tea is filled with Mr. Wood's usual magic
touches and surprises, along with a large and colourful set, plenty of audience participation in
the form of singing and Tigerobics and a cast of 3 who were clearly in tune with their young
audience.
The star of the show is the Tiger himself, brilliantly played by Alan Atkins who
also doubles up as the father who doesn't believe that a tiger has visited and eaten them out of
house and home. The Tiger's costume was superbly designed and Alan brought the animal
to life with convincing feline movements.
A short performance at just under an hour, but perfectly timed for a young audience to be
held spellbound.
