The Three Degrees
Hard to believe that this amazing trio started way back in 1963, there have been some line up changes along the way, but the original heart and soul of the Philly sound lives on in these lovely ladies.
Had the Degrees been part of the Phil Spector stable rather than the Philly Sound back in the day, they would surely have achieved much higher status; as it was they were constantly eclipsed by The Supremes. Their performance at Hall For Cornwall was proof positive that they were every bit as good, if not better, than their wall of sound contemporaries.
These divine ladies were every bit as glamorous as you would expect, with shimmering dresses, divine hairstyles and oodles of style, they sang their way through a massive back catalogue encouraging fans to boogie and sing along with their favourite numbers. Drifting seamlessly from such classics as My Foolish Heart to Take Good Care of Yourself and When Will I see You Again, the fabulous trio took us on a journey that nobody wanted to end.
A feel good night in every sense of the word, if only today’s pop wannabees had just a smidgeon of the warmth, style and talent of these classy ladies.
