Sir Tim Rice
With a career spanning almost 50 years, Sir Tim Rice has a wealth of anecdotes to share. A packed DuMaurier Theatre heard how he first fell in love with Cornwall; finally making the best decision of his life and buying the Cornish home he now lives in.
Sir Tim recounted events from his early beginnings in a spectacularly unsuccessful rock band to his well documented collaborations with Disney and Elton John. His amazing raft of work alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber could have filled many hours and his years as a lodger in the weirdly eccentric Lloyd Webber household would probably fill a book. Sir Tim, of course, chatted about his many musicals, but he is justifiably very proud of Chess, despite his feeling that we have not yet seen the definitive production of this amazing show.
Time flew in the presence of this lovely man with the gentle voice and unassuming manner – an enjoyable afternoon with a true raconteur
