Kasabian
Eden Sessions
The long awaited 2009 Sessions kicked off on Saturday night with a confident performance
from Leicester rockers Kasabian. Darlings of the festival circuit for the past couple of years
along with a regular support slot to Oasis has clearly helped Tom Meighan develop into the
perfect frontman.
The Indie rockers have been compared to the likes of those Madchester gods, Oasis, Happy
Mondays and Stone Roses and there is definitely an element of all 3 in Kasabian. But the
band also harks back to those masters of dark electronica Primal Scream.
The early hits came thick and fast on Saturday night, Club Foot, Processed Beats, Cutt Off
and Shoot The Runner had 6000 fans enthralled, but tracks from their latest album, West
Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, were equally well received.
The night ended, as expected, with a rousing encore of LSF and fans could still be heard
singing the lyrics long after the band had left the stage.
An excellent start to the sessions, with Kasabian proving to be a superb live band.
