Jane Darke - Held By the Sea

Jane Darke’s  struggle to come to terms with the loss of her husband, playwright Nick Darke after 25 years of living and loving together is laid bare in this  intimate and beautifully written book.
Reading extracts from the book, taking questions from the floor and chatting openly about their life together, Jane held the Festival audience mesmerised. The book opens at the beginning of their relationship when they first met and how friendship grew quickly into a deep and lasting love which death has not dimmed. Jane has successfully re-invented herself as a gifted writer, although she continues to fish and carries on with the beachcombing and cleaning that played such an important part in their lives. Nick was a much loved son of Cornwall and Jane and her family generously shared him with us in life and now in death as she recounts both poignant and funny moments from their life.
A gentle and lovely lady, Jane Darke has met her terrible grief head on, finally reaching a peace and acceptance with her lot whilst carving out a different path for herself. Already planning her next book, Jane is in demand in her own right, although it is certain that the spirit of her husband watches over her.
