Small Fakers
Small Fakers
Bethel Social Club
Local Mods of all ages turned out in force on Saturday night to hear one of the best tribute bands in the country on their first visit to Cornwall.
Small Fakers, as their name suggests, perform classic songs from the vast repertoire of one of our greatest 60’s bands – Small Faces. Highly praised by the likes of Kenny Jones himself along with Steve Marriott’s Mum, fans expected something special and these brilliant young musicians surpassed all our hopes.
The dance floor quickly filled as the band played hit after hit, from ‘Hey Girl’ to ‘Tin Soldier’ ‘My Mind’s Eye to Itchycoo Park’ as well as some strong instrumentals that only die-hard Small Faces fans love and remember.
Tribute bands are much maligned in some quarters, but when a band sounds as good as the original and gives so much pleasure, the purists don’t have a leg to stand on.
Small Fakers and Stanley Unwin’s son, John, are performing Ogdens Nut Gone Flake in it’s entirety, in Leamingtion Spa in January next year - check out their website, www.smallfakers.co.uk for more details.
