Andy Fairweather Low and The Low Riders

Andy Fairweather Low and The Low Riders

Hall For Cornwall

It’s taken more than 40 years, but I’ve finally seen guitar genius Andy Fairweather Low live and I want more!

Most people will remember him as the frontman to Amen Corner, someone they may even have totally forgotten, but Andy is a musician’s musician. He has worked non-stop since the heady days of ‘Bend Me, Shape Me’ and ‘Paradise’, touring the world with the likes of The Who, George Harrison, Bill Wyman, Eric Clapton – the list of the fabulous and famous who invite him to share their stage is endless.

Two years ago he built a new band -The Low Riders, comprising Dave Bronze, Paul Beavis and Nick Pentelow, who come with CV’s almost as impressive as Andy’s. The band has toured extensively as headliners to sell out audiences wherever they appear, and rightly so. But on this night at Hall For Cornwall Andy and The Low Riders were the support act with a short 40 minute set, and what a set! These wonderful musicians somehow managed to pack the time with classics ranging from Peter Gunn to Wide Eyed and Legless and a bit of banter in between.

40 minutes flew by in the company of this fantastic band and a packed theatre roared their appreciation at the end of this superb blues showcase. A dream come true to see Andy live - I loved every second and could have listened to these guys play all night.
