Release Date 26th April

Dreadzone have been thrilling festival goers and filling dance floors with their unique dubfunkreggae sound for almost 20 years. Along the way they have produced some fine albums, with Second Light in 1995 becoming a much hailed classic strongly supported by legendary DJ John Peel.

If Peely were here today, he would be supporting the dubsters’ latest release ‘Eye On The Horizon’ with the same passion, for this album is one of their finest. They have captured the magic of Second Light with every track, with the opening bars of the first number ‘Tomorrow Never Comes’ inspiring us to dig out the barbie and invite friends round to party. ‘For A Reason’ is an excellent dubstep track and is cleverly followed by a superb song ‘Changes’ with cool beats and echoing vocals that the Dreadz do so well. Amongst a wealth of fabulous tracks, ‘American Dread’ is the one that soared straight into my heart as the stand-out moment – pure Dreadzone, with samples and spoken words, loaded with bass and beat, the Eye’s ‘Little Britain’. But there’s more!

‘Beyond A Rock’ is exactly that, driven by kick ass loud n proud rock, leading into ‘Gangster’, a fun mash up of witty reggae lyrics and 70’s soul. ‘Yeah Man’ is darkly layered dubstep closely followed by the more chilled ‘My Face’ which has everything including brass. ‘Walk Tall’ is simply beautiful and leads all too soon into the amazing closing track ‘Just Let Go’.

‘Eye On The Horizon’ is testament to Dreadzone’s dexterity at producing albums where each track not only works in it’s own right, but flows seamlessly along leaving you wanting  more. The perfect album for those hazy, summer days – roll on the festivals and the Pimms.
