Dennis Locorriere

Dennis Locorriere

Hall For Cornwall

Former Dr. Hook frontman Dennis Locorriere returned to perform another sell-out gig at Hall For Cornwall. The man with the distinctive voice held fans in the palm of his hand as he wove old classics like ‘Sylvia’s Mother’ and ‘A Little Bit More’ with tracks from his latest album ‘Post Cool’.

This show was essentially a trip down memory lane with Dennis the entertainer leading the way, telling stories and joking with the audience throughout. Shel Silverstein, composer, poet, musician, is a strong thread throughout the show, clearly a man dear to Dennis’s heart and one whose music Dennis is happy to play.

The band of musicians with Dennis are pretty well connected themselves, having worked with a list of great names from George Harrison to Dusty Springfield. Fine individual musicians, as a band they make an amazing sound.

This was a gig where the audience sang along to the old favourites and revelled in the personal memories each song brought back; but silence reigned as Dennis performed The Ballad of Lucy Jordan in what was the highlight of his performance, achingly sad and beautiful.

With a rousing standing ovation at the end of the night, I think we can safely assume that Dennis and his band will be back next year!
