What I’ve Done While I Look For A Real Job

DVD by Brett Harvey.

Cornwall is home to a veritable feast of talented folk and Brett Harvey sits at the top table.

A former pupil at Truro College, Brett graduated in film studies at St. Helens College and returned to his native Cornwall to produce a vast amount of work.  His shorts have been widely acclaimed and he has received nominations for several awards – including a BAFTA. Winning awards at Viewfinder, Cornwall Film Festival, Manchester Festival of Fantastic Films amongst others, proves he can cut it with the best of them.

Brett has now put together this superb collection of his work which his established fan base will love and will also serve to introduce him to a wider audience.  Among the selection is the critically acclaimed An Jowl Yn Agas Kegin (The Devil In Your Kitchen), a wonderful story of a henpecked chef who does a deal with the Cornish language speaking Prince of Darkness. It’s a tribute to Brett’s expertise that fellow Cornish talent, Philip Schofield, makes a brief guest appearance as himself. Other brilliant clips and shorts follow; some, like ‘Popcorn’ are laugh out loud funny and others have touching moments, but all are entertaining.  These fabulous shorts are, of course, the foundations for Brett’s current giant leap into feature length movies. Despite touring with his siblings in the wonderful ‘Superstition Mountain’, Brett is finding time to work on a black comedy thriller for the big screen.

At a mere £10.00 the DVD is money well spent and is available from Brett Harvey, 32, Treffry Road, Truro TR1 1WL
