Profile:
I am Mark Fraser. I suppose you could describe me as a St Austell boy
who grew up, moved away and the came back.
Somewhere along the way I have acquired a love of contemporary music, its’
rhythms and variety. However, I tire of the dominance of Rock/Rap and
Pop on our airwaves and am delighted that Radio St Austell Bay is affording
me the opportunity to bring you something different.
In my show I hope to bring you music from around the world and not just
the usual US/UK acts. Essentially I want to showcase some of the wonderful
music from other cultures and keep it together with some interesting tracks
in the John Peel tradition – particularly reggae, soul, jazz and electro.
As my vinyl record collection is not transcribing well into broadcast quality
material, I am currently having a great time going out and sourcing new
music in different formats. Over the weeks ahead I will bring you a selection
of these. Most shows will be an eclectic mix but on some occasions I would
like to take a thematic approach, such as African dance music or Brazilian
music.
Key to the success of this is you. I am hoping to bring in guests from
our community who have knowledge of music from other cultures to help me
with the show featuring their selection. A sort of multi cultural desert

I want the show to be stimulating and enjoyable and also slightly challenging.
Perhaps you can think of it as musical ‘brain training’!
