Can you help?
Californian Lee Ann Lopez is searching for relatives from Cornwall - these are the details she has to work with:
Sam Stoneman was born in or around St. Austell in the 1890's and went to America around 1914, along with his brother Lorenzo Stoneman. Sam fought in the American army in WW1 in a regiment that was mostly made up of Cornishmen. Sam died in Duluth, Minnesota and is buried there.
Sam's mother was Elizabeth Ann Payne who it's thought died around the beginning of WW2.
Sam's wife was Amelia Rose Perkins, although born in Michigan, her grandparents were from Cornwall - one of her grandfathers being Thomas Kelly and another called Joseph Perkins who married Mary Hastings. It appears Joseph was a Freemason and may have come from a long line of Freemasons. All these people were from Cornwall and were mining families.
If anyone has any knowledge of these families, please email sheilav@rsab.org and we will pass the info to Lee Ann in California.
Thank you.
